Amit Shah finally begins search for leadership alternatives to Parrikar

News / Mid-Day/ National
The BJP has formally started its hunt for a leadership alternative to ailing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, party leaders as well as an alliance partner said on Thursday. The issue of leadership change had been a taboo subject for most of the Bharatiya Janata Party leadership, including MLAs and state BJP president Vinay Tendulkar, who until late on Wednesday had maintained that there was no question of even discussing possible alternatives to Parrikar's leadership as the Chief Minister, who is suffering from advanced pancreatic cancer, was "recovering" and "governing the state well". The obduracy over the issue of leadership alternatives to Parrikar appears to have given way to a sense of pragmatism in the BJP ranks, especially with their national President Amit Shah formally broaching the subject with leaders from Goa's ruling coalition parties. "Amit Shahji spoke to leaders from our coalition parties today in Delhi. They discussed possible leadership options for the near fu..

Narendra Modi: Congress concocting falsehoods in Madhya Pradesh

News / Mid-Day/ National
Accusing the Congress of concocting "falsehoods" to gain power in Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the party has three chief ministerial aspirants and they were busy pulling each other down. "The Congress has lost its ground in Madhya Pradesh. They don't have any agenda for development. It seems, nothing is left for them to oppose us. They have no issues and in the lack of issues they are concocting falsehood. "The development work by our government has frustrated them and that is why they are talking nonsense," he said during his interaction with booth-level party workers of Hoshangabad in election-bound Madhya Pradesh. The Prime Minister also interacted with booth-level workers of Chatra in Jharkhand, Pali in poll-bound Rajasthan, Gazipur in Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai North in Maharashtra through the NaMo App under the programme 'Mera Booth, Sabse Mazboot' (my booth strongest). During his interaction with workers in Hoshangabad, a woman sought to know ..
