Services were affected on Delhi Metro's Blue Line for nearly half an hour on Tuesday evening due to a technical issue, officials said. "Services on the Blue Line were affected today from 4.30 PM to 5.05 PM due to a signalling issue between Dwarka Mor-Dwarka section (towards Dwarka Sec 21)," a senior DMRC official said. Blue Line connects Dwarka in Delhi to Electronic City in Noida. "Trains were regulated during this period as the maintenance staff attended to the issue. This led to bunching on the line which was gradually cleared once the issue was resolved at 5.05 PM," he said. Earlier in the day, services between Sultanpur and HUDA City Centre stations of Yellow Line were also affected from 8.30-8.57 AM due to a point flash (signalling issue) near Sultanpur Metro station, the DMRC said. Trains were regulated during this period which led to minor bunching on the line which was gradually cleared once the issue was resolved at 8:57 AM, officials said...

A junior assistant in the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe, Anti-Corruption Bureau said on Tuesday.Ponnapally Surya Bhagavan, who is a junior assistant in the revenue section of the Assistant Commissioner's office, had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 9,000 to process the file of a woman seeking mutation of property.According to the ACB, a woman named K Sailaja had gone to the VMC office seeking mutation of three flats in her name from her father.After Surya Bhagavan asked for a bribe, Sailaja made a complaint about the incident to the ACB, who laid a trap and caught the officer allegedly taking a bribe.A positive result was noted after conducting a phenolphthalein test and the bribe amount and the record pertaining to official favour was recovered, said an official.Further details are awaited...

Jammu and Kashmir government will soon open 50 PCOs in each district of Kashmir division for the people to make calls free of cost, a senior official said on Tuesday. Kashmir's Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan said the locations and other modalities to set up the PCOs have already been finalised and will soon be acted upon. "List and other details have been provided to the Bharat Sanchar Nigham Limited authorities and the work will start shortly," he said. General public will avail calling facilities in these PCOs free of cost, he added. The government's latest step to ease communication in the Valley comes days after revival of the suspended mobile telephony for the post-paid mobile phone subscribers. The TMC hit out at the BJP on Tuesday after its leaders met President Ram Nath Kovind claiming "constitutional breakdown in Bengal", describing it as an effort to malign the state and asked the saffron party to worry about people dying allegedly due to panic over NRC implementation. A CRPF official was on Tuesday duped of his debit card and mobile phone by two men who had shared an auto-rickshaw with him on his way to Connaught place from Kashmiri Gate, said police. The CRPF official was duped while withdrawing cash from an ATM booth at Connaught Place. As the CRPF official headed to an ATM booth, the two co-passengers in the auto too followed him and managed to see him punching the PIN for his card. After he withdrew money, one of the two tricked the official him in parting with his debit card to him, said police, As he was inspecting the card, the other one asked for his phone and the moment the CRPF official gave it to him, the duo ran away, said police. Leader of Opposition in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Gopal Bhargava said at a campaign rally here on Tuesday that if the BJP won the Assembly by- election, Shivraj Singh Chouhan will return to power. The ruling Congress took exception to the statement, alleging that he was hinting at imminent toppling of the Kamal Nath government in the state. Speaking at a rally, Bhargava said, "If your elect (BJP candidate) Bhanu Bhuria with a huge margin, I promise you that Chouhan would become chief minister again after Diwali."
