Aircraft engine maker Pratt & Whitney has partnered with Air India Engineering Services Ltd for maintenance of all types of engines, including those powering A320 neos, according to a source. The two companies are likely to make a joint announcement about the partnership soon, the source told PTI. A320 neo planes, powered by P&W engines, have been grappling with snags for nearly four years. A substantial number of such neos are operated in India by IndiGo and GoAir. P&W already has a tie-up with Air India Engineering Services Ltd (AIESL) for maintenance of its 4056 engine model. These engines power Boeing 747-series aircraft. Once the new partnership is in place, AIESL would be carrying out maintenance work for all types of engines manufactured by P&W. "P&W and AIESL have entered into an agreement under which the latter will maintain P&W engines in the country. 'Operation Sajag,' a security exercise conducted by the Indian Coast Guard off the Karnataka coast has helped identify many drawbacks especially in fishing boats, Deputy Inspector General S B Venkatesh, Commander, Coast Guard Karnataka has said. Fishing boats operating in the state's coast were checked on Wednesday as to whether they had mandatory documents and life jackets required while sailing, he told reporters on the sidelines of the 29th anniversary of setting up Coast Guard's Karnataka unit in Mangaluru. The Nagaland Lokayukta has ordered a preliminary inquiry to be conducted by the chief minister into allegations that Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton was involved in the appointment of over 1,100 constables in the police department in violation of norms. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has been asked to submit his report in the form of an affidavit before the next date of hearing. The order was signed by the Lokayukta of Nagaland Justice Uma Nath Singh on Thursday while taking cognizance of a complaint filed by Vicca S Aye. Aye had lodged the complaint against Patton, who is in-charge of the home department, on Wednesday. The Lokayukta in the order directed the Coordinating Officer/Inspector under Nagaland Lokayukta Police Establishment to register a case of preliminary inquiry to be conducted by a higher authority, that is the chief minister. The Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered suspension of the managing director of Handicrafts (Sales & Exports) Corporation, Jasvinder Singh Dua, who was booked by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) last year, officials said on Friday. Masrat-ul-Islam, the director of handicrafts, Jammu and Kashmir, will hold the charge of the post of managing director of Handicrafts (Sales & Exports)Corporation in addition to his own duties till further orders, they said quoting an order by the General Administration Department. "Pending enquiry, Jasvinder Singh Dua is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect, in terms of Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956," the order read, adding that during the period of his suspension, Dua would remain attached with the office of divisional commissioner, Jammu. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has for the first time proposed testing of aviation personnel for psychoactive substances such as cannabis, opioids and their variants, officials said. This is in line with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) policy and procedures which has already been prescribed by other leading aviation agencies such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the USA and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). According to an official statement, random test will be carried out under the supervision of the DGCA officers at laboratories authorised by the aviation watchdog and will cover 10 per cent of employees of each organisation in a period of one year. A 47-year-old provision store owner was shot dead allegedly by unidentified persons while he was trying to avert a robbery bid in south Delhi's Fatehpur Beri area, police said on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Ravi Kumar Singhal, a resident of Dera village, they said. Police got information regarding a firing incident at Fatehpur Beri area on Thursday at around 10:15 pm. "Police rushed to the spot and found that Singhal, a grocery shop owner, had sustained a bullet injury. His helper Bhagwan Dass, a resident of village Dera, also got injured in the incident," Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said. One empty cartridge was recovered from the spot, the DCP said. Singhal was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital where he was declared brought dead. He sustained a single gunshot wound. Dass' statement was recorded and he stated that on Thursday night around 10 pm, Singhal closed his store and kept a bag containing cash on the stairs. A Punjab and Haryana High Court judge has acceded to a request of a counsel to seek adjournment of a case while apprehending that the court was in bad mood. Justice R N Raina also brought on record the request of counsel K S Sidhu when the matter came up for hearing before the court earlier this month. New Delhi [India], Feb 21 (ANI): A Delhi court has taken cognisance of the Enforcement Directorate's chargesheet in a case of alleged violations of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) by an NGO linked to corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar.Special judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar, while taking cognisance of the same on Wednesday, issued summons against all the accused for March 16 and observed that allegations in the chargesheet prima facie show that the arrayed accused were involved in the process of acquisition of proceeds of crime.From the allegations made in the chargesheet, the offences under Section 3 read with Section 70, punishable under Section 4 of Prevention of Money Laundering Act 2002, are made out, the court observed.Corporate lobbyist Deepak Talwar is currently in judicial custody in the matter.The ED case is based on an FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in November 2017 on a complaint of FCRA violations involving more than Rs 90 crore against .....
